Reflection 2
Many people feel as if they're adrift in the world. They work hard, but they don't seem to get anywhere worthwhile.
A key reason that they feel this way is that they haven't spent enough time thinking about what they want from life, and haven't set themselves formal goals. Goal setting is a powerful process for thinking about our ideal future, and for motivating us to turn our vision of this future into reality. The process of setting goals helps us choose where we want to go in life. By knowing precisely what we want to achieve, we know where we have to concentrate our efforts. We'll also quickly spot the distractions that can, so easily, lead us astray.
Describe
For this one and a half year, my goal is to pass my A-Level study with the result of 4A*s. What I used to imagined for my college life remains as an imagination, since the so-called " honeymoon college life " doesn't even exist in real life. College should be the first step for us to know, learn and understand this topsy-turvy world but what I realized is l am just repeating my high school life in a more packed, breathless and faster pace ( which means that the time I contributed to books is more than the time I gave in managing the relationship between people ). Ok, since I have set myself the 4A*s goal, I need to work REALLY hard to achieve that. Due to this, I spent most of the time to complete tons of homework, revise what teachers have taught and read through what teachers gonna teach on the next day. Most of the time, I am only able to do the first two things and would skip the third. It is literally boring and tiring to go on this kind of life, but I know all my labour and hard work will pay off at the moment I get my result. If you want to ask me is it worth it to spent these much times to carve the 4A*s achievement, I would say yes it is.
Interpret
I take the most traditional subjects, which are Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. After 2 months of studying A-level I found out Physics and Biology are the subjects I like the most. I like Physics because it is easier to understand compared to other sciences since physics happen anywhere anytime in our lives. Having a logical and analytical mind helps me in understanding and learning physics, on top of assisting me to deal with physics questions. At the same time, I show maximum affection for Biology because it is really amazing and inspiring in learning and understanding biology. By understanding how the bodies of the animals and plants work to carry out life processes , I am really amazed and surprised that how amazing life is, and how important a cell could be, for which we need to appreciate what we have and take good care of them. For Mathematics and Chemistry, I need to work harder in order to follow my teachers' step. This is because in Chemistry it is quite hard for me to imagine what we cannot see and in Mathematics I need to do more practice in order to be familiar with all the possible questions that would come out in tests and exams. And since my dream is to pursue marine biology, I will remind myself everyday to add more hard work into my A Level study so that I am capable to turn my dream into reality in the future.
Evaluate
Well, I know that achieving an A* for every subject is really not an easy thing and since I am not joking, I need to stop my bad habits that block the path to success. Having a bunch of classmates who are MOE scholars does make me feel stressed, but in the other way it also spurs me to work harder. Those scholars they are equipped with everything: intelligence, diligence, smartness and stress-tolerance. In order for me to get 4A*s, I realize that I need to be in good in time management so that I can increase my efficiency of work done. Setting this goal is really a good motivation for me to develop myself in a positive way, especially my personal skills since I am learning how to improve myself everyday to make my goal come true. Secondly, this goal is crucial since what I study and learn in A level would be the basement of my study in marine biology. Besides, since I have a passion in pursuing marine biology, so getting 4A*s is seriously vital for me to pursue what I like.
Plan
There is two kinds of goals: long term and short term. This one-and-a-half-year goal is considered as short-term goal. Goal planning is the most important part as it decides the percentage of achieving my goal. In order to pass A Level with 4A*s, I plan to study and do revision on a weekly basis, monthly basis and semester basis. Every weekend, I need to study the syllabus that teachers have covered and so that I can immediately catch up my teachers' pace. I also need to do topical past year practice for each chapter. At the mid-term of the semester, I need to do revision on all the chapters of every subject that teachers have covered so that I wouldn't burn the midnight oil before tests and exams. And I need to check out what I waste my time most to save more time. Time is everything for every human. Since we can't buy the time by money, good time-managing skills are always the key leading us to real success in life. I need to strengthen my time management skills so that I can increase my efficiency of work done and do more possible work in a period of time. Equipped with time-managing skills, I believe that I can study proactively and efficiently besides of getting my homework done on time. Last but not least, I need to avoid procrastination as the saying goes, procrastination is the thief of time. Procrastination is, most probably, the main key that causes failure in achieving life goals. Therefore, with all my bad habits eliminated while well-equipped with good time-management skills, I can really, from now on, "turn over a new leaf" and spur towards my goal.
